When sky is not the limit! ISRO sets record.
Isro sets record
ISRO – Indian Space Research Organisation sets world record, successfully launches 104 satellites in one go #PSLVC37
ISRO successfully launched a record 104 satellites on a single rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
ISRO used the XL variant of PSLV, which was used on Chandrayaan and the Mars Orbiter Mission. This will be a world-record for most satellites launched simultaneously.
The rocket is carrying the CARTOSAT-2 and 103 other satellites, 96 of which are from the US.
The PSLV-C37/Cartosat2 Series satellite mission included the primary satellite (Cartosat-2) and 101 international nano satellites.
It also launched two of its own nano satellites, INS-1A and INS-1B.
The launch took place from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
The satellites will be injected into the sun synchronous orbit at different slots at different angles and at different times.
Apart from the principal payload Cartosat-2 series satellite and two more nano-satellites weighing less than 10 kilogram, 101 other co-passengers are from foreign countries including one each from Israel, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates and 96 from the US.
No other country has ever tried to hit a century in a single mission. The last world record is held by Russia which in 2014 rocketed 37 satellites in a single launch using a modified inter-continental ballistic missile.
The US space agency National Aeronautics and Space Administration has launched 29 satellites, while ISRO successfully launched 20 satellites in June 2015.
Congratulations to every Indian , ISRO has made us proud again.
A proud moment for India!!
